Individual Volunteering Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for work on the construction site with Habtiat for Humanity of Broward! Your partnership helps us build homes, communities and hope!

No construction experience is necessary as skilled construction staff and skilled volunteer leaders will provide training and supervision. All tools, safety equipment, and building materials needed for the day will be provided.

Individual volunteer opportunities are typically available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays year-round , excluding holidays.  PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU CANNOT SIGN UP ON A PARTICULAR DAY, WE ARE EITHER CLOSED OR ALL OF THE SPOTS ARE FILLED. Please do not show up to one of our sites without registering, as we prepare for the volume of volunteers at each site and cannot always accomodate additional people.

COURT ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE VOLUNTEERS: Application approval is required prior to registration. Please complete the Court Ordered Community Service Application located here and contact volunteer@habitatbroward.org, for more information about completing your hours with Habitat Broward.

LOCATION:  In 2024, we will have build sites in Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, North Lauderdale and Coral Springs!  As construction schedules can change and the work needed at a given site can variety, we ask that you are flexible on location and tasks. We will confirm the location 2-3 days before the date.

NOTE: AGE REQUIREMENT: All Volunteers must be 16 or older.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in all roofing tasks, tasks that require a ladder or any task that requires the use of power tools

WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: Volunteers should wear comfortable, long pants or shorts and sturdy, closed-toe shoes (sneakers are acceptable – no sandals, flip-flops, or dress shoes) that you do not mind getting paint on, soiled, or possibly ruined.  In addition, we suggest wearing a hat and bringing sunglasses. You are welcome to bring your own hardhats, gloves and eye protection if you'd like, but we will provide all needed Personal Protective Equipment. We also provide training, tools, bottled water and snacks.  Some volunteers like to bring their own tools, but we cannot be held responsible for those tools being lost, damaged or stolen, so if you do, please mark them clearly and keep an eye on them!
