If you are looking for COURT ORDERED hours, application approval is required prior to registration. Please complete the Court Ordered Community Service Application located here. All court ordered service must be done at our ReStore location, and after approval, you can register here.
If you are looking for community service for school:
- You must be 16 or older to be on a construction site, and 18 or older to participate in certain tasks. You may register for opportunities below if you are 18+, or 16+ with parental agreement to the waiver that is attached to the registration.
- We cannot make any exceptions to our age policy, even with parental consent. Those under 16, may be able to help by raising funds or donations for the ReStore, or bringing snacks. Please email volunteer@habitatbroward.org if you are interested.
Individual volunteer opportunities:
- Typically available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays year-round , excluding holidays and special Habitat for Humanity Broward events. We update the calendar monthly depending on the construction schedule.
- IF YOU CANNOT SIGN UP ON A PARTICULAR DAY, WE ARE EITHER CLOSED OR ALL OF THE SPOTS ARE FILLED. Please do not show up to one of our sites without registering, as we prepare for the volume of volunteers at each site and cannot always accomodate additional people.
- No construction experience is necessary as skilled construction staff and skilled volunteer leaders will provide training and supervision. All tools, safety equipment, and building materials needed for the day will be provided.
- LOCATION: In Fall 2024, we will have build sites in Coral Springs, North Lauderdale and Fort Lauderdale! As construction schedules can change and the work needed at a given site can variety, we ask that you are flexible on location and tasks. We will confirm the location 2-3 days before the date.
- WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: Volunteers should wear comfortable, long pants or shorts and sturdy, closed-toe shoes (sneakers are acceptable – no sandals, flip-flops, or dress shoes) that you do not mind getting paint on, soiled, or possibly ruined. In addition, we suggest wearing a hat and bringing sunglasses. You are welcome to bring your own hardhats, gloves and eye protection if you'd like, but we will provide all needed Personal Protective Equipment. We also provide training, tools, bottled water and snacks. Some volunteers like to bring their own tools, but we cannot be held responsible for those tools being lost, damaged or stolen, so if you do, please mark them clearly and keep an eye on them!
